JERUSALEM โ A 30-year-old woman who survived the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack in southern Israel died by suicide nearly three years later, according to JFeed news. Bar Asraf's body was found on Saturday evening at the grave of her friend Liron Barda in the West Bank settlement of Elkana, Israel-based JFeed reported. First responders found Asraf with a gunshot wound to the chest and were unable to save her.
Barda, 26, was killed during the Nova music festival after she refused to leave and stayed to administer first aid to the wounded, JFeed reported. Her father, Avi Barda, said he spoke with his daughter that morning and urged her to leave the area, but she told him she would not abandon the injured.
French-Jewish activist Jรฉrรฉmy Ben Hayim said Asraf had maintained a close connection with the Barda family and visited her friend's grave on the anniversary of her death. The report comes roughly a year after another Nova survivor, Roei Shalif, died by suicide in October 2025 after witnessing a friend's death in the attack.
According to earlier reports cited by JFeed, around 50 Nova festival survivors had died by suicide within six months as of April 2024. No further details on the latest death were immediately available.
