BAGHDAD, Iraq โ North Refineries Company said a fire that broke out at one of the support units of its Salahaddin/2 refinery on Monday has been fully contained. According to the company's government communications and media unit, security and firefighting teams responded quickly after the blaze ignited at a hydrogen gas compressor unit at around 04:45 a.m., preventing the flames from spreading to adjacent production units.
The company said the incident was caused by a technical malfunction and was brought under control in a short time thanks to the application of approved safety procedures. It confirmed that there were no casualties and that production operations continued without interruption.
Engineering and technical teams have begun work to repair the damaged unit and return it to service in line with established standards. The company also commended the response of Salahaddin province's Civil Defense teams and support personnel, citing their level of emergency preparedness.
