SULAYMANIYAH, Iraq โ A molecular medicine laboratory opened in Sulaymaniyah on Thursday, offering genetic analysis services aimed at supporting personalized treatment for patients with tumors and hereditary diseases.
Siwan Maruf, who coordinated the launch event, said the facility provides genetic analysis for a range of conditions and enables physicians to make genetics-based treatment decisions for individual patients. She added that test results help identify the most suitable therapy for each case, improve response rates and reduce side effects, with diagnostic precision particularly critical in oncology and hereditary disease cases.
The launch seminar was held at the Rotana Sulaymaniyah hotel and attended by doctors from Hiwa Specialized Hospital and researchers in the health field. Participants discussed how modern techniques can be applied in everyday medical practice.
The opening is part of broader efforts to expand personalized medicine โ treatment tailored to a patient's genetic profile โ across the Kurdistan Region.
