Saudi prince, 29, found dead in London hotel from alcohol and drug mix, inquest finds

LONDON, United Kingdom — A 29-year-old Saudi prince died in a London hotel room from cardiac arrest linked to alcohol and a combination of drugs, according to a coroner's inquest. Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Jalawi Al Saud was found dead at a Marriott hotel in the Kensington area, the inquiry found. Toxicology results showed the presence of fatal levels of GHB, cannabis and several sedatives, including Xanax, alongside alcohol. The inquest heard that his blood alcohol level was 222 milligrams per 100 milliliters, roughly three times the legal driving limit in England. The inquest was told that the prince had previously been treated for alcohol and anxiety medication dependency, including a detox program for alcohol, benzodiazepines and pregabalin at the Priory clinic in Roehampton, southwest London, in August of the previous year. Psychiatrist Dr. Victoria Chamorro said he had been assessed as not being at risk of suicide on discharge but did not attend planned follow-up appointments conducted via Zoom. The coroner recorded a verdict of death by misadventure, noting that there was no evidence the prince intended to end his life.
