A Russian cardiologist has reported that heart rhythm disorders are responsible for more than 300,000 deaths each year. Evgeny Kokin said many patients with atrial fibrillation are unaware their condition poses a life-threatening risk and do not take necessary precautions. Kokin noted that heart rhythm disorders are linked to approximately four in ten deaths from stroke and three in ten deaths from heart attacks. The data also shows that roughly one-third of these deaths occur among people aged 30 to 64. Cardiologist Valentina Gavrilyak drew attention to the additional risks extreme heat poses to cardiovascular health. She recommended avoiding outdoor activity between noon and 4 p.m. and limiting direct sunlight exposure to no more than 15 to 20 minutes during those hours.
