Russia confirms strike on St. Petersburg oil facility as Ukraine drones hit multiple regions

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia — A petroleum facility in the Kirovsky district of St. Petersburg was struck overnight by Ukrainian drones, Russian authorities said. St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov said the attack hit an industrial site and that the situation was brought under control, with no injuries reported. The governor of Leningrad Region said 72 drones were shot down overnight, with no casualties or damage. Russia's Defense Ministry said a total of 389 drones were intercepted across various regions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said strikes had targeted oil facilities inside Russia, including the Kronstadt naval base near St. Petersburg. Mutual attacks on energy infrastructure have continued, while Russia has faced a fuel crisis inside the country in recent months.
