Trump says US has paused Iran talks for one week during Khamenei funeral

WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said Saturday the United States has paused talks with Iran for one week to last through the funeral of Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. Trump said in remarks that both sides would refrain from firing on each other during the mourning period. Trump claimed the Iranians were "begging" to reach a deal, and said he was watching the funeral. He added that the United States could defeat anyone, but suggested there would be no one left at the negotiating table. Separately, Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had requested a meeting at the White House, adding that it could take place early next week. Trump said Netanyahu knows who is in charge and described relations between the two leaders as very good.
