TEHRAN, Iran โ€” Reports have surfaced detailing disagreements between Israeli intelligence and the U.S. administration over a plan to overthrow Iran's government during the tenure of former Mossad chief David Barnea, according to security sources. The plan reportedly involved mobilizing millions of Kurdish fighters to target the Tehran regime. Security sources said the proposal was vetoed by President Donald Trump. U.S. officials close to Vice President JD Vance allegedly leaked details of the operation to Turkish President Recep Tayyip ErdoฤŸan. Sources indicated the leak was intended to sabotage the operation from within. Barnea assessed that economic and military pressure following the February death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and his replacement by son Mojtaba Khamenei could collapse the Tehran government within one year. He reportedly warned that lifting sanctions would funnel new resources to Iran and that the underground Harakish nuclear facility had not yet been targeted. During his five-year term, Barnea oversaw operations including sabotage of Iran's nuclear program, the pager attacks, and the killing of Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
