Qatar's prime minister to visit Tehran on Wednesday

TEHRAN, Iran — Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani will travel to Tehran on Wednesday, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said. Baghaei said the visit is part of ongoing Iran-Qatar consultations aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and bolstering regional peace and security. The spokesperson praised Qatar's efforts in recent months to prevent a rise in regional tensions following a US-Israeli attack on Iran. He said Al Thani is expected to meet Iranian officials to discuss how to sustain Qatar's mediation initiatives and review the latest regional developments. Qatar's Foreign Ministry spokesperson had previously said the country is continuing diplomatic work with both sides of the US-Iran tension and aims to bring the parties back to the negotiating table.
