BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Gunfire broke out during the funeral of a tribal sheikh in the Fuzeyle area in eastern Baghdad, according to local security sources. Federal Police were deployed to the neighborhood after some attendees opened fire into the air during the ceremony.
A subsequent armed clash between police and suspects left one person wounded, the sources said. Emergency patrols that reached the scene detained five people, one of whom was carrying a pouch holding six magazines. A Kalashnikov rifle was also seized during the operation.
Authorities said the detained individuals have been handed over to security forces and that an investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further details were immediately available.
