Over 117,000 students sit final exams in Kurdistan Region

ERBIL, Iraq — The Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Education said final exams for the 2024-2025 academic year have begun, with 117,142 students taking the tests across science, social sciences, vocational, commercial and religious tracks. Ministry spokesperson Peyman Hojaj said the exams are being held in 2,003 halls supervised by 19,403 educational and administrative staff. Erbil had the largest number of examinees at 38,063, followed by Duhok with 27,266 and Sulaymaniyah with 26,563. Other participating districts include Halabja with 1,590 students, Zakho with 6,918, Soran with 6,398, Garmian with 5,356 and Raparin with 4,988. The exam process is being overseen by 12,180 invigilators, 2,003 hall managers and 1,376 educational inspectors. Hojaj said the ministry has taken all necessary measures to ensure the exams run smoothly and that students are provided with appropriate conditions.
