No cinema tickets sold in Ilam since the start of the year

ILAM, Iran — Official statistics show that no cinema tickets were sold in the western city of Ilam from the start of the Iranian calendar in March through the end of May. Data from Iran’s cinema ticket and sales system showed that local theaters recorded no ticket sales during that period. The figures also showed that fewer than 8,000 tickets were sold in the city over the whole of last year. Most of those sales went to a domestic animated film. The report said Ilam has three cinema halls, and that they were either closed or completely empty during the period covered by the data.
