Iraq Civil Defense: Drivers Blocking Fire Trucks Face 200,000 Dinar Fine

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Civil Defense Directorate said on Monday that drivers who block the passage of fire and rescue vehicles will face fines and legal penalties. It said failing to give way to emergency vehicles is a clear violation of Iraqi traffic law. The directorate said anyone who deliberately obstructs the movement of emergency vehicles will be fined 200,000 Iraqi dinars under traffic regulations. It added that if such obstruction delays firefighting or rescue operations, drivers may also be held liable under the Iraqi Penal Code. The statement said those who hinder humanitarian work through negligence or deliberate conduct will bear full responsibility for any loss of life or property that occurs.
