Nine Iraqi public employees detained in Diwaniya corruption raids

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Counter-terrorism and anti-corruption units in Iraq’s Diwaniya governorate carried out raids and searches targeting public employees wanted on financial and administrative corruption charges, a security source said. The operations focused on individuals who had been ordered arrested by courts and were employed at health and municipal departments, the source added. The detentions took place in Diwaniya city, located south of Baghdad. Nine public employees were taken into custody as a result of the raids, according to the source.
