MOSUL, Iraq โ Health authorities in Nineveh have confirmed a case of hemorrhagic fever in a 37-year-old woman living in the Education District on Mosul's left bank, the provincial health directorate said. The patient was admitted on July 11, 2026, as a suspected case at Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital, where blood samples were taken and sent to the Central Public Health Laboratory in Baghdad for confirmation.
After the laboratory returned a positive result, the woman was transferred to Shifa Hospital, a facility designated for confirmed hemorrhagic fever patients, and placed under the approved treatment protocol. A medical source at the directorate said the case adds to a limited number of confirmed and suspected infections recorded in Mosul in recent weeks.
The directorate said medical and veterinary teams have intensified inspections across the city to monitor animal movements, unlicensed slaughtering and new infections as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the disease. Officials added that new cases are being recorded across Nineveh, with potential hotspots tracked at the district and sub-district level.
