BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Security forces in Maysan province dismantled an international drug trafficking network and arrested three foreign nationals, the Maysan Anti-Narcotics Division announced Tuesday.
The suspects were caught during an operation following prolonged surveillance by intelligence units. Authorities seized 1 kilogram of crystal methamphetamine. The announcement said the network had been smuggling the drug into Iraq.
The anti-narcotics division stated the operation dealt a heavy blow to criminal networks targeting public safety. It said authorities would continue pursuing individuals involved in drug trafficking both domestically and internationally, with support from Iraq's judiciary.
The division added that Iraq would not be used as a transit route or operational base by any criminal organization.
