MAYSAN, Iraq โ A light earthquake was felt across Maysan province on Saturday morning, with the tremor recorded near the border region of Dehloran on Iranian territory, seismology monitoring centers reported. The quake struck at 10:52 local time, according to data from monitoring stations, and was centered close to the eastern border strip neighboring Maysan.
Iraq's General Directorate of Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring had not yet issued an official statement on the precise magnitude of the tremor on the Richter scale. Civil defense and health units in Maysan reported no casualties or material damage linked to the shaking. Authorities said aftershocks in the area were also being tracked.
The epicenter's location on the Iranian side meant the tremor was felt more strongly in Maysan's eastern districts, according to monitoring data. Local residents experienced brief unease following the activity along the border line, though no further incidents were reported.
