Kuwait says Iranian attacks are a 'clear violation' of its sovereignty

KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — Kuwait's Foreign Ministry on Friday condemned Iran's recent attacks on Kuwaiti territory, calling them a clear violation of the country's sovereignty and a direct threat to its security and stability. In a statement on X, the ministry said the strikes also posed a danger to Kuwaiti citizens and residents of the country. The ministry said the attacks represented a serious breach of international law, the United Nations Charter and UN Security Council Resolution 2817. It warned that the continuation of such strikes, while regional and international de-escalation efforts are ongoing, was systematically undermining efforts to reduce tension. Kuwait described the security of the country, its sovereignty and the safety of its people as a "red line," and said it reserved the legitimate right to take all measures necessary to protect them. Iran launched fresh strikes against Kuwait and Bahrain overnight, according to earlier statements from both countries. Their air defense systems intercepted most of the missiles and drones, though limited material damage was reported at several sites.
