KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait — KUWAIT — Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy said on Wednesday that power transmission lines went offline after shrapnel from retaliatory strikes hit the country. The ministry said in a statement that the outage did not affect the continuity of its services. Emergency response teams, coordinating with security authorities, began damage assessment and repair work, according to the ministry. No further details on the extent of the damage were immediately available. The Kuwaiti army had earlier announced that missile and drone attacks were intercepted amid rising regional tensions following reciprocal strikes between the United States and Iran on Wednesday morning. Bahrain's Interior Ministry also said its air defenses had stopped what it described as Iranian-origin attacks and activated sirens, urging citizens and residents to move to the nearest safe area.
