Iraq FA confirms Air Force-Zewa, Police-Erbil Super Cup pairings

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Football Federation has set the matchups for the 2026-2027 Super Cup, pitting Air Force against Zewa and Police against Erbil in the two opening fixtures. The pairings were determined according to the clubs' rankings from the previous season. Under the federation's official tournament regulations, games that end level in regular time will go straight to penalty kicks without extra time. Clubs have been given until May 15 to withdraw from the competition. The federation said any club that withdraws after the May 15 deadline will be fined 100 million Iraqi dinars and will lose three points from the next Iraqi Stars League standings. It also announced that the 2026-2027 Iraqi Stars League campaign will begin in mid-August, running concurrently with the Super Cup. The federation noted that the Video Assistant Referee system for the new season will be deployed with upgraded infrastructure, without providing further details.
