ERBIL, Iraq โ Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani met on Monday with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Iraq, Irfan Siddiq, in Erbil to discuss bilateral relations and political developments between the Kurdistan Region and the federal government in Baghdad.
According to a written statement from the Region's presidency, the two sides stressed the importance of continued cooperation and coordination among political forces to safeguard Iraq's stability, security and sovereignty. The talks also covered the federal government formation process, the political situation in the Kurdistan Region and outstanding issues between Erbil and Baghdad.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with a recently announced agreement between the United States and Iran, expressing hope that it would contribute to lasting peace and stability in the region. The meeting was also attended by the UK's Consul General in Erbil.
