BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq recorded 50 earthquakes in June 2025, with 22 occurring inside the country and 28 near its borders, according to Ali Abdulkhaliq, head of the Seismic Monitoring Department at Iraq's Meteorological and Seismic Monitoring Organization. The tremors outside Iraq were registered in Iran's Ilam, Lorestan, Kermanshah, Kurdistan and East Azerbaijan provinces, in Turkey's Van, Sirnak and Hakkari provinces, and in Syria's Hasakah province, Abdulkhaliq said.
The earthquakes ranged from magnitude 1 to 4.4 on the Richter scale, with focal depths between 6 and 31 kilometers, he added. Inside Iraq, Diyala's Khanaqin district recorded the highest number of tremors with four, followed by the Klar and Sharazur areas in Sulaymaniyah and Dakuk district in Kirkuk, each with three.
Abdulkhaliq confirmed in the June report that the earthquakes caused no casualties and that only one felt-event report was issued during the month.
