ERBIL, Iraq โ€” Kurdistan Region Interior Minister Riiber Ahmed said security conditions in Amadiya district and surrounding border areas have improved, citing the end of clashes between the PKK and Turkish forces. Speaking at a press conference during a visit to Amadiya, Ahmed said the halt in fighting has allowed residents to return to the area and rebuild their homes. Ahmed met with local officials to assess residents' needs and expressed hope that the end of the conflict would bring security and stability to the border regions. He praised the resilience of local residents and said the Kurdistan Regional Government would follow up on their demands, implementing what falls within its authority and referring other issues to the relevant authorities. The minister reiterated the Kurdistan Regional Government's support for peace efforts between the PKK and the Turkish government, saying such efforts would contribute positively to stability in the border areas. He noted that security checkpoints in the region are necessary to protect residents and tourists and would remain in place as long as the security need persists.
