Kurdistan Region says June salaries funded, awaiting federal share of 3.3 billion dinars

ERBIL, Iraq — The Kurdistan Regional Government's Ministry of Finance and Economy said 841.161 billion dinars have been deposited into the ministry's bank account at the Central Bank of Iraq's Erbil branch to cover June salaries for public-sector employees in the region. The ministry said the deposited amount corresponds to salary payments for civil servants and other payroll recipients in the Kurdistan Region. As in the previous month, the Federal Ministry of Finance withheld 120 billion dinars from the total funding, representing the federal treasury's share of the region's non-oil revenues for June. The ministry also said the federal finance ministry has not yet transferred 3.326 billion dinars allocated for June salaries, an amount covering outstanding pension entitlements for retired civilian and military personnel carried over from previous months. Salaries are scheduled to be distributed once the cash is collected from the Central Bank branch in Erbil and remaining financial procedures are completed, according to the ministry, which said the payroll list would be published at that stage. No further timeline for distribution was provided.
