SANAA, Yemen โ Saudi Arabia carried out a series of airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport, according to Houthi-linked media outlets. The Houthi-run Al Masirah channel said the strikes targeted the airport's runways for takeoffs and landings.
Yahya Saree, the military spokesman for Ansar Allah, the Houthi political-military movement, said the Saudi strikes ended a period of non-aggression and pledged a response. The Yemeni defense minister said the government's patience had run out over Iranian aircraft entering Yemeni airspace and warned that Yemen would respond, holding Iran legally and morally responsible.
The head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council placed the blame for the escalation on the Houthis, saying their actions were backed by Iran. He accused the group of accepting an Iranian-linked flight while blocking Yemen's domestic services, describing the move as a dismissal of state institutions.
No immediate casualty figures or further details on the extent of damage at Sanaa airport were provided.
