Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described Ukraine’s posture toward Iran as aggressive, accusing Kyiv of attacking different countries. Speaking to reporters, Peskov said Ukraine had previously targeted Germany’s critical energy infrastructure through attacks on the Nord Stream gas pipelines and was now striking Iran by hitting an Iranian merchant vessel.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the vessel was attacked by an unmanned aerial vehicle on the morning of July 25 in the Caspian Sea while carrying a cargo of raw iron from Astrakhan to Iran’s Anzali port. One crew member was killed and another was wounded in the strike.
Ukraine has acknowledged responsibility for the attack. No further details were immediately available.
