Klopp confirms Germany has approached him about national team job

Jürgen Klopp said the German Football Association (DFB) has contacted him about taking over as head coach of the national team following Julian Nagelsmann's departure. Speaking to Eurosport, Klopp confirmed the approach after Germany's group-stage exit from the 2026 World Cup but did not signal a final decision. Germany was eliminated in the group stage of the World Cup hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico. The team lost to Paraguay on penalties after a 1-1 draw in normal time, with the match going to extra time without further scoring. Klopp stressed that the decision should not rest solely with Nagelsmann and said the broader debate about the team's direction needs to continue. The 59-year-old has served as head of football operations at Red Bull since leaving Liverpool in 2024.
