Kirkuk receives 250,000 tonnes of wheat this season

KIRKUK, Iraq — Silos affiliated with Iraq's Ministry of Trade have taken delivery of approximately 250,000 tonnes of wheat from farmers across Kirkuk this season, the head of the provincial silo directorate said. Hasan Hamdi, the director of the Trade Ministry's silos in Kirkuk, said procurement is proceeding smoothly in line with the set timetable, with technical and administrative staff working full hours to process farmers' transactions quickly. He added that deliveries are continuing from various agricultural areas of the province and that the accepted volume is expected to rise in the coming days. Hamdi also announced that payment for last season's wheat, totaling around 70 billion dinars, has reached the relevant state banks, with distribution to farmers and producers already underway. He said the Trade Ministry is directly monitoring the file and that payments will be delivered to rightful recipients as quickly as possible under the established plan. Hamdi described this year's marketing season in Kirkuk as a successful period that reflects the province's agricultural production capacity.
