WASHINGTON, United States — TEHRAN — Mohsin Rızai, an adviser to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, said the draft agreement being negotiated between Iran and the United States to end hostilities is "ambiguous," Iranian state media reported Tuesday.
Rızai said President Trump wants to pressure Iran while keeping his own conditions unclear. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Erakçi said Tehran and Washington are continuing to review the negotiating texts and working to finalize a potential deal.
Trump said the talks are going "quite well" and expressed confidence an agreement could be reached by the end of the week. He said Iran signing the deal would mean accepting it will not possess nuclear weapons.
Media reports said Trump requested changes concerning the Strait of Hormuz and Iran's highly enriched uranium stockpile, which delayed progress toward a final agreement. Iran has linked any ceasefire agreement to a halt in Israeli military operations in Lebanon.
