KARBALA, Iraq โ Karbala Governor Nasif Jassim al-Khattabi said the Ashura pilgrimage has reached its peak, with security and service plans proceeding smoothly at a high level.
In a statement, al-Khattabi said the security plan is flexible and relies primarily on intelligence work and high-level coordination among different security units. He noted that roads remain open and the flow of visitors continues without disruption.
Al-Khattabi said cooperation and coordination among relevant agencies would continue to ensure the pilgrimage is carried out successfully. He added that the service plan has been in place since the beginning of the Muharram month to serve visitors, support Husayni processions and mourning ceremonies held in the name of Imam Hussein, and meet needs throughout the observances.
The governor did not provide additional operational details, and no further information was immediately available.
