BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Foreign Ministry said on Monday it welcomes the resolution of disputes among the parties to the regional conflict, reaffirming the country's rejection of war and its commitment to avoiding escalation. In a statement, the ministry said Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein held a telephone call with UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan to discuss the latest regional developments.
Hussein stressed the depth of Iraqi-Emirati relations and called for advancing joint cooperation in line with mutual interests. He reiterated Iraq's position of rejecting war, working to prevent its expansion, calling for de-escalation and condemning attacks targeting Gulf states. Hussein also expressed hope that resolving disputes among the parties would strengthen security and stability in the region.
Bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE's desire to develop bilateral cooperation with Iraq and extended wishes of security, stability and prosperity to the country, according to the statement. The ministry added that Hussein also held talks with International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Grossi on issues related to the current situation. No further details on the IAEA discussions were immediately provided.
