BEIRUT, Lebanon โ€” The Israeli military said Saturday it killed a senior Hezbollah commander, identified by the code name "Abu Hasan Ala," in an airstrike on the Deir al-Zahrani area of southern Lebanon. The Israeli military alleged that Abu Hasan Ala had played a role in planning operations against Israeli forces in southern Lebanon, including the launching of explosive-laden drones. Lebanese sources identified the commander as Ali Muhammad Fahreddin. Hezbollah-affiliated sources confirmed his death, describing Fahreddin as a "jihad commander." He had served in Hezbollah's Badr Unit, according to the Israeli military. The Israeli military also said it struck a Hezbollah main command headquarters in the Ansar area of southern Lebanon on Saturday evening. The strike killed Ali Samir al-Haj Hasan, whom Israel described as the sector commander of its Radwan Force, along with other individuals the military said were preparing operations in the area. Lebanon's Health Ministry said 11 people were killed and 19 wounded in Saturday's airstrikes.
