US crude oil imports from Iraq remain at zero for seventh straight week

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The United States imported no crude oil from Iraq last week, according to data from the U.S. Energy Information Administration, marking the seventh consecutive week of zero purchases. The agency said the United States made no crude oil buys from Iraq throughout July and during the week ending August 7, leaving Iraqi crude flows to the American market fully halted. Canada remained the largest crude oil supplier to the United States, shipping 4.406 million barrels per day. It was followed by Venezuela at 743,000 barrels per day, Mexico at 303,000, Ecuador at 212,000, Brazil at 198,000 and Colombia at 186,000. Saudi Arabia ranked seventh with 100,000 barrels per day, followed by Nigeria at 39,000 and Libya at 36,000, based on 2024 import data. Some of the initial weekly figures are estimates, and Iraq was listed at zero, placing it outside the ranking of countries actively supplying crude to the United States.
