Israeli army units advanced into the village of Al-Arize in the countryside of Deraa in southwestern Syria with several vehicles and dozens of soldiers, according to local sources. The forces set up a temporary checkpoint in and around the village and its agricultural lands before withdrawing to their previous positions, with no detentions reported.
The same sources said an Israeli patrol also moved simultaneously through the Quneitra countryside, where soldiers questioned several shepherds before leaving the area. No detentions or clashes were reported in either incident, according to the accounts.
Residents said they were uneasy about repeated Israeli military activity in southern Syria in recent weeks. No clashes or detentions were recorded in either province.
