Israeli forces detain 80 Palestinians across West Bank after Tel attack

JERUSALEM — Israeli forces expanded operations across the occupied West Bank on Saturday, detaining 80 Palestinians in raids that focused on the city of Jenin and multiple villages, Palestinian media outlets reported. The Palestinian Prisoners' Club said the majority of those detained were from the village of Tel near Nablus, where Israeli troops conducted large-scale search-and-arrest operations at several locations. Palestinian media reported that soldiers also raided the village of Birin east of Hebron, entering homes and damaging their interiors. Israeli media said the army had been ordered to broaden the scope of its West Bank offensive. The military launched the operation on Friday after an armed attack in the village of Tel killed two Israelis. Four Palestinians also died in the incident and four others were wounded. Offices of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz announced expanded military measures in response, including demolishing the attacker's family home in Tel, carrying out wider operations across multiple villages, and imposing a siege on Nablus and Tel.
