Israel kills senior Hamas security official in northern Gaza, group says

Hamas's Interior Ministry in Gaza said on Saturday that the Israeli military killed a senior security official in an attack in the Sheikh Ridwan area of northern Gaza. The ministry identified the dead man as Brigadier General Abd al-Nasser al-Maqadma, head of the Northern Gaza Emergency Committee and director of security for northern Gaza. Al-Maqadma also chaired one of five committees Hamas established during the war to manage civilian and displacement affairs. Hamas has since dissolved those committees, transferring their duties to a National Gaza Administration Committee affiliated with a so-called Peace Council, according to the statement. In a separate strike in the Safetawi area, north of Gaza City, Israeli forces targeted another security official linked to the Hamas police apparatus; the official was seriously wounded, the ministry said. Separately, an Israeli attack on a group of young people in the Sawarha area in central Gaza killed one Palestinian and wounded another. The ministry also reported that an airstrike near Al-Shuhada Al-Aqsa Hospital in Deir al-Balah wounded several young people, including a journalist. No further details on casualties were immediately available.
