ISMAILIA, Egypt โ€” Iraqi sprinter Falah Hassan won the 100 metres at the Arab Under-23 Athletics Championship in Ismailia, Egypt, claiming Iraq's first gold medal of the competition. He crossed the line in 10.27 seconds, finishing ahead of Bahrain's Ali Mohammed Jasim, who took silver in 10.40, and Saudi Arabia's Bedr Al-Kahtani, who claimed bronze in 10.52. Maytham Al-Hasani, media director of the Iraqi Athletics Federation, confirmed the result and said the medal was the product of intensive preparation by the federation, coaching staff and athletes. Al-Hasani said Iraqi athletes have reached a level where they can compete with the top names in Arab athletics. He added that the federation is aiming for further medals and positive results in the remaining events of the championship.
