BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Communications and Media Commission said it shut down several Korek Telecom sales points in Baghdad as part of a field operation carried out in coordination with the National Security Advisory. In a written statement, the commission said three sales outlets in the Arosas, Palestine Street and Mansour areas, along with the company's main branch in Kadhimiyah, were closed during the operation.
The regulator said the action was carried out under the supervision of its specialized teams and security units, and that previous regulatory decisions against Korek Telecom were still being enforced. It added that coordination with relevant authorities was continuing to complete the legal and regulatory requirements for suspending the company's operations.
No further details on the company or the underlying regulatory cases were immediately available.
