BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Ziyadani said tanks were deployed during the Dawn Operation to close off Baghdad's Green Zone, in remarks broadcast on television on Saturday. He did not provide additional operational details.
On energy policy, Ziyadani said Iraq will not leave OPEC and is working to secure a fair share of exports. He also outlined an anti-corruption drive, stating that those who stole public funds will be left with no option but to return them to the state.
On diplomacy, the prime minister announced a planned visit to Syria to expand economic cooperation, followed by an Arab tour after his trip to Washington. He gave no dates for the visits.
Addressing recent attacks targeting Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, Ziyadani said investigations are ongoing and that there is no indication the operations were launched from Iraq. He added that the Iraqi armed forces will deter any action targeting neighboring countries.
