BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani received a delegation from the al-Kadhimiya Holy Shrine led by its general secretary, Haidar Abdul Amir Mehdi, in Baghdad on Monday, his office said. The meeting reviewed plans for the shrine's service and reconstruction projects.
According to a written statement from the Prime Minister's Press Office, al-Sudani was given a detailed briefing on projects aimed at easing the flow of visitors during the shrine's million-strong commemorations. The prime minister said the government is committed to supporting the holy shrines and providing the best services to visitors.
Al-Sudani added that the support will continue to accommodate the growing number of pilgrims arriving from inside Iraq and abroad. The statement noted that the projects contribute to the revival of religious tourism in the country.
