Iraqi parliament drops women's rights bill from Sunday session agenda

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi parliament has revised the agenda for its session scheduled for Sunday, removing one of five items originally listed, the Council of Representatives' Press Department announced. Under the updated agenda, the number of items was reduced from five to four. The removed item was the first amendment to the 2021 Amal al-Zaydi Law on Women's Status. The bill had been the final entry on the original list. The remaining four items include the first amendment to the 2019 Industrial Cities Law, the Renewable Energy Regulation Law, the first amendment to the 2013 Civil Defense Law, and a draft law approving the Strategic Partnership Agreement between Iraq and France.
