Iraqi para-javelin thrower Nizar wins silver at international classification tournament

BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Paralympic Committee announced that national para-javelin athlete Abdurrahman Ziyad Nizar won a silver medal at an international classification tournament, held as part of a qualification program for the 2026 Asian Games in Nagoya, Japan.
Nizar won four consecutive matches in the group stage, defeating a Chinese opponent 15-9 in the quarterfinals and an Uzbek athlete 15-11 in the semifinals to advance to the final. He faced another Chinese competitor in the final and finished with the silver medal.
Ali Saadi Mennehi, head of the Iraqi Para-Javelin Federation, said the result reflects the steady progress of the country's young national team athletes. He also thanked national team coach Jamal Hasan Abdulkerim and fitness coach Ali Kerim Hizar, known as Ali Hawk.
