Iraqi Military Intelligence arrests 19 suspects across six provinces

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Military Intelligence Directorate said it detained 19 suspects sought under various legal provisions during operations across six provinces. A written statement from the directorate said intelligence and security field teams attached to the 1st, 7th, 8th, 11th, 14th, 17th, 22nd and 23rd divisions carried out the arrests. The detentions were carried out in Baghdad, Diyala, Anbar, Maysan, Saladin and Kirkuk, based on sensitive intelligence information, the directorate said. It added that the detainees were handed over to the relevant authorities for legal proceedings. The Military Intelligence Directorate said operations would continue within the framework of due legal process.
