Baghdad command closes 10 unlicensed parking lots and garages

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Baghdad Operations Command said it has shut down 10 unlicensed parking lots and garages operating in several areas on the Karkh and Rusafa sides of the capital. In a written statement, the command said the inspections were carried out to protect public safety and safeguard public and private property, and to prevent operators from exploiting citizens by charging them unlawfully. According to the statement, the command's Field and Exhibition Monitoring Commission identified and closed the 10 facilities with the support of the responsible forces in the area. Operations were conducted at multiple sites on both the Karkh and Rusafa sides. The command urged operators who have not yet obtained official permits to apply to the relevant authorities to complete the legal procedures. It said all businesses must operate in line with current regulations.
