BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Security forces in Iraq's Saladin province seized about 3 billion Iraqi dinars in cash and four luxury vehicles during an overnight raid on a house linked to an employee of the Baiji refinery, a security source said. The confiscated vehicles were identified as a Toyota Hilux, a BMW, a Chevrolet Tahoe and a Cadillac. The source said the money is connected to the case of Adnan al-Jumayli, the detained deputy minister at the Oil Ministry's refinery affairs department. Iraq's Supreme Judicial Council has previously announced that funds recovered in the al-Jumayli investigation have exceeded 98 billion dinars and 11 million US dollars. The operation is part of government efforts to combat corruption, according to the security source. Arrest and summons warrants are being carried out against sitting and former officials, lawmakers and public employees as part of the inquiry. Reports indicate that the investigation extends to Baghdad and other cities, with political and administrative figures drawn into the probe. No further details were immediately available.
