BAGHDAD, Iraq — Police in Baghdad's Karkh district said three people were injured and several suspects detained following an armed family dispute on Friday in the Kâzımiye neighborhood. The Karkh Police Command said firearms and bladed weapons were used in the altercation.
According to the command, officers from the Kâzımiye police station and an emergency response unit responded to a report of the dispute and took all involved parties into custody. Security forces seized the weapon used in the fight and brought the situation under control, the command said.
The three injured individuals sustained wounds of varying severity from bladed weapons and were transferred to a hospital for treatment, according to the statement. Authorities confirmed the incident occurred in the Karkh district. Kâzımiye is among the densely populated neighborhoods of the Iraqi capital.
The Karkh Police Command said the suspects were detained, legal proceedings were initiated, and the case file was referred to the relevant investigative authorities to complete the inquiry. No further details were immediately available.
