BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi security forces said they captured three ISIS members in separate preventive operations in Diyala and Anbar provinces on Thursday, and seized a cache of ammunition belonging to the group.
The Military Intelligence Directorate said troops from the 23rd Commando Division's Intelligence and Security unit, coordinating with other security units, detained two terrorism suspects in Diyala. The directorate said arrest warrants had previously been issued against the two under counterterrorism procedures and that they were handed over to the relevant authorities to complete legal action.
In a separate operation, the Counter-Terrorism Service said intelligence tracking led to the capture of another ISIS member in Anbar province. The service added that a separate search in the same province located an ammunition depot belonging to the group, and that the material was destroyed in accordance with standard procedures.
Iraqi forces have continued to carry out targeted operations against remaining ISIS cells in areas of the country where the group still operates.
