BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Higher Judicial Council said authorities have seized $10 million and 31 billion Iraqi dinars in cash as part of an investigation into detained former Deputy Oil Minister Adnan Jamili, who headed the ministry's liquidation affairs office. In a statement, the council said investigators also recovered roughly 20 billion dinars hidden at a farm on Sunday and foiled an attempt to smuggle 5 billion dinars out of a city.
Judicial sources said legal proceedings have led to the seizure of 70 real estate properties, 21 new vehicles and approximately 3 kilograms of gold jewelry linked to the case. The council did not specify the nature of the allegations against Jamili or the charges he faces.
The Higher Judicial Council said the investigation is continuing, with work underway to identify other suspects connected to the case. It added that proceedings will proceed until the judicial process is completed. No further details were immediately available.
