BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Interior Ministry narcotics directorate said on Saturday that security forces seized 10 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in Baghdad and arrested three suspects in the operation. The ministry said the drugs had been concealed inside bags of white cement used as a cover for smuggling.
The statement said the operation was carried out under the supervision of an Interior Ministry deputy and monitored by an investigative court, with intelligence work leading to the seizure by specialized investigation and technical units. Officials said the crystal meth had been hidden inside the cement using specialized methods.
The Narcotics Directorate warned that concealment and camouflage efforts by traffickers would not provide them a safe haven, and pledged to continue pursuing dealers and sellers. No further details on the suspects or the investigation were immediately available.
