WASHINGTON, United States — WASHINGTON — A high-level Iraq-US business summit convened on Friday in the US capital, organized by the US Chamber of Commerce in partnership with the US-Iraq Business Council. Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul-Mahdi was among the attendees, alongside senior US administration officials and executives from leading global companies. The opening session featured remarks by US Chamber of Commerce President Russ Perdue Jr. and Tom Barrack, the US Special Envoy for Iraq and Syria. Senior executives from GE Vernova, Excelerate Energy and Vantive then discussed investment opportunities in Iraq for US firms in the program's first panel. A subsequent session on energy security and oil and gas cooperation included officials from BP, ConocoPhillips, ExxonMobil, Shell and Chevron. In the afternoon, US Chamber of Commerce President Suzanne Clark, US Energy Secretary Christopher Wright, and Jarod Agen, director of the White House National Energy Dominance Council, delivered remarks ahead of a ceremony to sign agreements and cooperation frameworks. The summit concluded with three parallel evening sessions covering electricity, infrastructure, finance, banking, digital technologies and investment opportunities in the United States.
